Ned Burwell is a tattoo artist, painter, author, and public speaker. He has been an artist for the last 40 years. Being an artist spurred his awakening.

Ned’s Journey of Awakening

Ned’s spiritual journey began in his early twenties when he began awakening to something within himself. As a young boy, his deaf grandmother invoked a tide of silence in him. However, his experiences with his grandmother had long faded away by his early teens. At the height of his depression, he desperately needed the peace that his grandmother revealed to him in his early adolescence. By the age of twenty, the voices in his head had a chokehold on him, and he had reached a point where he could not move forward. His anger had come to a boil, and the catalyst for his deepest struggle came from making all the checkmarks on his life list. Life offers a false promise that if we get married, buy a house, have a vacation property, or own a Harley Davidson, we will be happy. Fortunately and Unfortunately for Ned, he had already accomplished all those things. You would think he would be happy, but he wasn’t. He was at war with himself and rapidly losing the battle. Defeated and broken, he had nowhere left to turn, and in a moment of desperation, Ned cried out to God, “Please help.” At the time, he wasn’t religious or spiritual in the least, but he was desperate.

After Ned Cried out for help, his life began to change. During this period, he met a local doctor and started attracting an entirely new group of friends who helped him on his journey. He spent eight years studying various philosophies and religions with the doctor. During and after his time with Dr. Johnson, he found the Ishaya Monks. In total, he spent eight years travelling around with the Ishaya’s and was given the name Ganeśa by Maharishi Krishnada Ishaya. Ned’s time with the monks proved to be difficult for him. Being strong-minded had served him in many ways; however, he resisted change. As he learned how to change his relationship with his mind, he began to learn how to surrender. After he left the Ishayas, Ned attended Western University to study Psychology and English. Ned was ordained in 2016 and is licensed to officiate weddings and funerals. He has published six books, plus an oracle deck.

Today, Ned has become an inspiration to many, and he serves the world by being authentically himself. He shares his experiences with the understanding that we all have our own paths to walk, and the best way to love and support is to guide people back to their hearts and souls so that they can discover who they are, and why they are here.

Ned has facilitated workshops and talks in:

Schools within the Thames Valley School Board District, Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario Police College, Rogers Daytime TV, CHRW Radio Western 94.9 FM, and Unifor 2017 EFAP/Addictions Conference. He ran a program alongside a psychologist in Addictions Rehab (Vita-Nova) in Woodbridge, Ontario.

Over the years Ned has hosted and presented many weekend workshops, including topics such as Sacred relationships for couples, meditation, and men’s workshops. He has also facilitated a week-long meditation retreat, where he presented a series of workshops. Ned has experience speaking in front of crowds of up to a thousand people and small groups.

Ned won the 2024 Champion of Mental Health and Addiction Award. He won this award for his contributions to mental health and addiction within the Middlesex, Elgin, and Oxford County communities.
